The Fernando and Humberto Campana’s brothers live and work in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Their career as designers began in 1983 in the Estudio Campana and their productions started in artistic dimension, but over the years it also expands towards industrial products, and the sign that makes them unique and contemporary is the use of wastes.
The Campana’s brothers embellish what is commonly regarded as waste with designing, functionality and some peculiarities typical of Brazil, like colors, misture and the creative chaos.
For example, the Vitoria Regia stools (2002) obtained by processing waste of carpets, extremely colorful, and inspired by the giant water li
lies of the Amazon.
Today Campana’s creations are part of permanent collections in important world cultural institutions such as theMoMA in New York, the Museum of Fine Arts in Montreal, the Center Pompidou in Paris and the Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein.
