Real change doesn't start when plastic disappears. It starts when we choose to look at it through a different lens, and decide to change the way we use, value, and design with it.
From 3 July, the month dedicated to raising awareness about the overuse of single-use plastics begins. It is an opportunity to remind ourselves that every material has value, and that the greatest waste is forgetting its potential.
Today, the world produces more than 400 million tonnes of plastic every year. Without a significant shift in the way we produce and consume, global plastic production is projected to increase by around 70% by 2040. Every single day, the equivalent of 2,000 garbage trucks filled with plastic is dumped into our oceans, rivers, and lakes.
These figures may seem overwhelming.
To us, they represent something different.
They are a call to act.
Beyond Reducing Plastic: Rethinking Its Value
3 July – International Plastic Bag Free Day serves as an important reminder that reducing single-use plastics is essential, but it is only part of the solution.
This awareness month invites all of us to rethink the value of the materials we too often discard. The challenge is not simply to eliminate plastic, but to prevent it from becoming waste in the first place.
Plastic is not the enemy.
The real problem is the linear economic model that turns valuable materials into waste after a single use.
Giving Materials a Second Life
At Regenesi, we believe every material deserves a second opportunity.
By transforming post-consumer and industrial plastic waste into design products and innovative solutions, we demonstrate that the circular economy is not a vision for the future, it is a practical choice that can be made today.
Through eco-design, material innovation, and the expertise of Italian artisans, discarded resources become products with renewed purpose, beauty, and value.
Because sustainability is not only about reducing impact.
It is about creating value where others see waste.
