Until 6 June 2019 Berlin will be the European capital of sustainable design. In 23 embassies present in the capital, 100 designers and creatives compared on the theme of sustainability.
The week was inaugurated by a conference curated by the Italian Luisa Bocchietto, architect and designer currently president of the WDO - World designer Organization, a professional community of over 140 organizations from 40 nations that is committed to supporting the promotion of sustainable development goals throughout the design community.
"Design is and always has been, since its inception after the third industrial revolution, a link between society and technology," noted Ambassador Luigi Mattiolo. "And today, in the era of Fourth Industrial Revolution , it is more than ever. It is estimated that up to 70% of costs and up to 80% of the environmental and social impact of a product during its life cycle are determined during the design phase. The design community profoundly influences institutions and individuals by stimulating new behaviors in the use of objects, saving resources and repairing damaged ecosystems ".
These words fully represent the study and passion for the design of objects that enclose a story signed by Regenesi, a study that lasted over ten years and that today has brought us with great pride to be one of the 100 protagonists among the creatives on show in Berlin.
The European Sustainability Week will end on June 6, until then you can visit the exhibition, savoring the different approaches to sustainability in the field of Italian design. On display, in addition to Regenesi with Denis Santachiara, Matali Crasset, Giulio Iacchetti and Setsu e Shinobu Ito, other internationally renowned designers such as Odo Fioravanti, Enzo Calabrese, Davide Groppi, winners of the Compasso d'Oro ADI Award, Zsuzsanna Horvath, Mario Trimarchi and Christian Tomadini.
"Sustainability saves design! Design has become a concept that goes beyond the philosophy of the beauty of form. Sustainability has given meaning and responsibility to design. It has given design the task of modifying and developing products which safeguard our future by using recycled or intelligent materials in terms of energy and availability and doing research in technologies that project the world forward ".
