At the end of 2024 Energy & Strategy - POLIMI School of Management presented the Circular Economy Report 2024, identifying Regenesi among the 100 success stories with an analysis that reveals some significant data.
The research, which involved 550 companies representing the Italian industrial fabric, offers a significant insight into the transition towards circular models:
- 42% of companies adopted at least one circular economy practice;
- 36% have not adopted any practice and don’t want so;
- 22% have not adopted any practice but intend to implement in the future.
Recycling and design for repairability are among the most widespread circular economy practices, while the actual repair of products still remains marginal (8%).
The geographical and sectoral panorama shows marked differences: the circular economy is most developed in the Northern Italy (Lombardy primary, with a minimal presence in the South) and is mainly concentrated in two macro sectors which are Food & Beverage and Construction sector. The growth in sustainability consultancy is significant (+ 25% in a year).
Signs of optimism are emerging, but there are many difficulties in adopting circular approaches, especially for small businesses. The main reason for adoption lie in reputation and regulatory reason. Although top management is aware of the importance of the topic, the uncertain regulatory framework and implementation costs still represent significant barriers to change.
In this context, our DNA as circular natives has allowed us to develop a capacity for adaptation and innovation that is divided into three dimensions: product, business solutions and technologies. Regenesi has thus created a real ecosystem that connects artisans, designers and technologies, all at the service of an innovative and circular business vision.
